FAQ - Does my background report contain a credit check?

Most employment background checks do not include a credit check. Employers typically request a credit check only when hiring for roles involving financial transactions, access to financial records, or management of sensitive financial information.

Additionally, some states have laws restricting when employers can request and use credit checks in hiring decisions. When a credit check is included in an employment background check, it does not contain a credit score.
